A Place Where...
This program is a student led initiative for students and is supported by the college administration. Mentors serve as guides to assist new students to follow rules, regulations, expectations, and activities of general college life. The purpose of this program is to encourage, help develop social skills, and give students an equal chance in their abilities to learn, thus enhancing their success in college. The program will help students develop positive, supportive relationships with fellow students, faculty, and staff, allowing them to become more confident. The program will serve new in coming international students, returning adult students or any students who may need support in their academic success.
Students will receive one-on-one/ group support from Student Mentors. An opportunity to network with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Encourage them to explore campus clubs, activities, and resources. Help promote leadership and academic skills.
Provide social support for program participants. Promote academic excellence. Help increase students knowledge about college resources. Encourage students to become more proactive about problem solving. Become active participants in campus clubs, programs, and organizations. Encourage students to eventually become Student Mentors.
